Curiosities : ‘Corrupted Egg I’
This inaugural piece for the Corrupted line is curiously organic. And disquieting. Sure, it’s an egg, but an egg from what? The curve of the bowl sweeps up towards a mouth-like opening… oh, it’s open, that can’t be good. As the bowl curves down the smooth shell gives way to an unwholesome texture on the shank. The orange/black contrast stain reveals interesting structure but one does not like to linger on the surface detail too long. The shank tapers to a jet black stem of top grade ebonite.
After viewing, we walk away from the exhibit and wonder just what it is we have been given a glimpse of?
